Introduction

In July 2015, the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, may he rest in peace, issued Decree No. 2 for the year 2015, marking a significant milestone in the United Arab Emirates’ history. This decree addressed the issue of discrimination and hatred with seriousness and determination. This wise step aimed to promote a culture of social tolerance and combat all forms of discrimination that may arise in all aspects of life, whether based on race, religion, or culture.

UAE Labor Law and Anti-Discrimination

Among the laws that reflect this commitment to combating discrimination is the UAE Labor Law, which unites everyone under the principles of equality and justice. This law firmly prohibits discrimination among employees based on gender, race, skin color, religion, national or social origin, or even disability. The law also forbids the termination of female employees due to pregnancy or reasons related to necessary leave.

UAE Law for Gender Equality in Wages and Salaries

Subsequently, the Law for Gender Equality in Wages and Salaries in the federal government sector aims to achieve economic equality between genders. This law opens the door for women to receive equal pay for equal work, within a vision that strives for economic justice.

Law on the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

We cannot overlook the Law on the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which is a testament to the commitment to providing necessary support to this important segment of society. This law rigorously prohibits any discrimination against persons with disabilities in all aspects of life, pledging to provide a healthy and supportive work environment for them. It also prevents the termination of their services due to their disabilities.

Policy to Protect Persons with Disabilities from Abuse

The policy to protect persons with disabilities from abuse enhances efforts to combat forms of assault and exploitation they may encounter. This policy encourages providing equal employment opportunities and supporting them in obtaining suitable jobs, with a focus on their successful integration into private sector institutions.

UAE Law for Domestic Workers:

This law regulates labor relations with domestic workers in the country, defining the responsibilities of all parties to ensure their rights and obligations are balanced and providing a suitable working environment for them. The law prohibits practices like recruiting workers under the age of 18, discrimination, harassment, and forced labor.
